This was my first attempt at dry aging and everything had been going well for the first 34 days. On day 35, I went out to my garage and noticed that the fridge door had been left open and the internal temperature of the fridge was 86 degrees. I don’t know how long this was for, but I’d guess at least a day or two. It had a pretty strong smell at the time, but I closed the door and left in there for about another week. Now, it doesn’t have much of a noticeable smell and it looks about like it should, but I’m afraid of it being rotten.

Think it’s worth trying? Or is it not worth the risk? I’m really bummed if it has gone bad, but I really don’t want myself or my pregnant wife to get sick, either.

I'd pitch it in a heartbeat!!!

Next time please don't use that old refrigerator in your garage! We recommend ONLY using a modern frost free refrigerator located inside such as your kitchen where it will be opened and closed on a regular basis.

Sorry...
Ron
