A few questions from a noob was created by Anudem
I just used the bags for the first time and had great results. When attempting to vacuum the bag, my vacuum could not remove any air unless I used the sealing strips that were included with the bag. Is this normal? Is their a way to create a seal/vacuum without those white strips? When I use a standard vacuum bag, my vacuum sealer has no issues at all. Also, I used my pretty much all my white strip on this first dry aging. What can I use to replace them?

Those white strips are what you are supposed to use and that is why they are included! The UMAi Dry® bag is made of a unique material which breathes - letting the moisture escape as the meat dry ages. That is totally opposite of the "standard vacuum bag" which is meant to draw down a nearly perfect vacuum and then stay that way.
It is possible to seal a UMAi Dry® bag without the white strips - but it takes more effort. OTOH some people don't even use a vacuum sealer at all! Just extract the air as best you can and then close the bag using a bread twisty.

What can I use instead of the white strip? I have used almost all of the strips that came with my bags.

Yes, but I still want the vacuum seal. I would prefer to not risk it and do it by hand. I got zero vacuum until I used the white strips so that is not an option.
